I am always in favor of discussing a game honestly, flaws and all, but this is making a mountain out of a mole hill.

This would probably have more weight coming from ND instead of Digi-Guys.

And hell, it IS really old news like guy above says.

I cannot put into words how glad I am this failed approval.

One crappy screen = smear campaign. Get a life.

I'm all for the game, but the push back killed my enthusiasm for now.

I am no fan of *watching* two dudes "hug it out", but good on Bio for pushing the envelope in more than just the usual.

If someone's offended by that, please just skip it. But still we're bound to hear all about how alternate lifestyles are being "shoved down our throats" gain. *immature giggle*

One of my few day 1s of the year.

On the other hand, what's wrong with expecting the game to reflect the mood of the concept art? It's not like all the concepts were in b&w either. There are some on that very page in color.

It looks surreal enough...But looking at the screens it's impossible to tell this is supposed to be steampunk or post-apocalyptic or anything else they talked about.

I guess we'll have to look at this as a progress report. It has to get better though.

"Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence? I am Shodan."

*despair*

Doesn't sound like that at all to me.

Sounds like they had a good concept for multiplat and shelved it to do something totally different on the Wii. Only reason I can imagine Disney signing off on it is because Disney + Wii seems like a perfect family friendly marriage, which = $$$.

I think it's definitely more aimed at kids, but it's not y'know, insulting to an adult mind. Not anymore than any other simplistic title out there anyway.

On a completely unrelated note, how does anyone claim to be a mature fan while insulting another person superficially, N4G users? I guess this is why mainstream thinks gaming is only for kids. You guys surely fit the bill with comments like those.

Would not be surprised to find another "gamer girl" is just a wannabe model who poses near nude with controllers. It's pretty evident the moment you hear or read the person try to speak about the subject. I say the same thing for books: if you're going to be a fan, know more than titles. But I don't support a smear. And the 'burn' article sounds pretty darn close to that.

Heavy Rain by all accounts should have a story second to none. But gameplay?

When I think of QD, I think their best gameplay is in Omikron and their best story (so far) in Fahrenheit. Omikron is all about possessing different bodies and taking on different skill sets to progress. Fahrenheit is all about discovering the secrets behind the protagonist. These elements are done very well on their own.

But the other side of the coin is pretty bleak. I would never play Fa...

I know Uncharted is the hot new thing but c'mon, it's hardly the last word on the subject in a field with so many other worthy names.

Like Dark says, there are a lot of great (and daresay better) examples in MGS and Bioshock. ME too might be a good addition, but it's too soon to tell. As choice goes, Bioware talks a pretty good game about your choices following you, but let's see how that actually plays out over the trilogy and if it has as much impact as they claim.

So is this what passes for an in-depth look at the subject?

A bunch of shallow reasons that can and have been refuted a hundred times over?

I don't mind the paragraphs at all since it's all pointed and not just long for the sake of long. Which incidentally makes it an infinitely better read than many of the blogs that make the front page as news.

Edit: That was supposed to be a reply...

The only guy I can think of right away is already making one. That guy is Suda.

I've also been impressed with what Bethesda has done in Morrowind (Vos) and Fallout 3 (Dunwich Building). You'd think an open world game wouldn't really have scares. But they pulled those areas off pretty well.

I think it would be better to at least compose an article of some depth when attempting to criticize someone else's writing.

One of those rare times you really aren't missing much if you only read the title and blurb.

Play more than shooters and action games if you want great stories.

List is very poorly rounded out.

No.

One good OS doesn't change the crappy stuff MS continually forces on its customers. Case in point, stealth installing buggy add-ons into Firefox that cause vulnerabilities and instability without any easy way to remove them.

So why should I suddenly love them because I like W7?

You can't change my mind with fun new slogans and a smart campaign. Instead of ads which talk about listening and catering to your customers, how about doing precisely that ...

So what's so great about XBL these days?

Months ago I would have been able to make a list, but that list runs so much shorter now. It seems XBL is fast going from the eminent online service to "that thing you pay for out of habit". Twitter, Last.fm, Facebook... Nice bells and whistles, but what are the killer features now?
